I've been around for the naming/renaming of TV channels, if the naming process is any similar to that it involves a lot of people, and it's a real Process.
interesting read and tidbit re: ai music creators overlap with superfans. there is something about the act of duplication/replication that seems to be important to fandom and clicks with why tiktok became the music discovery platform of the 2020s. also makes me think of the diminishing cultural power of music as a result of the shift from social to individual patterns of consumption. without monoculture, i don't know that most people are actually big enough fans of music as an art form (or use it as a social signifier in the modern era) to buy into it in the same, consistent way via live shows, physical records, merch, etc.
